The real story, though, is what didn't get caught. A parade of perfectly usable dictionary domains walked straight to open registration like nobody was home. ranz.ca, lome.ca, fica.ca, and veux.ca are all solid four-character branded properties that slipped through the net. mounts.ca, kicky.ca, and taking.ca are common English words that any registrar should have noticed. Even clarksville.ca, an eleven-character place name with brand weight, went unclaimed. That's the real head-scratcher: volume catchment shops like WHC and BareMetal both had the bandwidth to grab dozens of properties, yet hundreds of registrable domains returned to the public pool untouched.

Webnames.ca Inc. grabbed a modest 11, including arrangement.ca, a clean eleven-letter dictionary word with real utility. Namespro Solutions Inc., Grape Inc., Dynadot, PlanetHoster, and DomainePlus.com each took one to three, which feels more like passive catching than strategic hunting. Grape did nail plum.ca and dps.ca, though—two high-brand-value hits that suggest someone there was paying attention.

The spread of uncaught high-value names suggests either lower overall competition this week or registrars being selective instead of aggressive. When solid four-character branded domains and common English words are left on the table, you're looking at a market where the low-hanging fruit isn't everyone's priority.
